13 Vote Center Workshops Complete

June 21, 2019 - As of this morning we have completed 13 Vote Center workshops - these public meetings inform the public about upcoming changes and seeks their input on our planning. To date we have engaged with hundreds of Orange County voters as we continue our outreach.

Vote Center Disability Access Assessments Underway

We recently updated our disability access survey tools to match the requirements at Vote Centers. The analysis of each site is extensive, taking on average four hours to complete with a team of three staff members. Our review includes path of travel, curb ramps and transportation access. To date we have completed 15 (of 188) locations.

As we prepare for an increase in vote-by-mail ballot mailings we are adding criminal penalty language to every return envelope. This warning includes language regarding ballot tampering - California law allows for ballot collection by third parties and it is a felony to tamper with the ballot.

This past week we hosted three days of election security tabletop exercises for local election officials using simulations of potential risks facing the election infrastructure. The exercises were led by officials from the Department of Homeland Security, one of our partners in protecitng Orange County elections.

Our survey data continues to grow as we engage with hundreds of Orange County voters at our Vote Center workshops. They have provided valuable feedback, including ranking what would be important to them - topping the list free parking, flexible voting hours and accessibility for voters with disabilities.
