Logic and Accuracy Testing

Before every election, the accuracy of the County’s voting system software and each piece of ballot scanning equipment to be used in the election must be tested. The accuracy testing for the June 7, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election was successfully completed from Friday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 17. The voting system and ballot scanners accurately read the votes on 400 test ballots.

Ballot Drop Box Pilot Program
Ballot Drop Box Pilot Program

We are testing new scanning devices on nine ballot drop boxes this election that will allow voters to track their voted mail ballot starting at the drop box. Every mail ballot return envelope has a QR code containing a unique ID. Voters who use the scanning device and are signed up for OC Ballot Express will receive an SMS text message confirming that their ballot was dropped off at the specified ballot drop box. To learn more about our pilot program and to find a participating drop box, visit ocvote.gov/vote-center-and-ballot-drop-box-accessibility/drop-box-scan
