Effective January 1, 2017, Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) is available to eligible voters in California pursuant to Election Codes 2170 through 2173.
Conditional voter registration extends the existing 15-day registration deadline in California to eligible voters, allowing them to register and vote provisionally 14 days prior to an election and on Election Day.
You can register and vote a provisional ballot as a conditional voter in the office of the Orange County Registrar of Voters, located at 1300 S. Grand Avenue, Bldg. C, Santa Ana, or at select early Vote Centers depending on the type of election. Call 714-567-7600 for full details.
If you miss the registration deadline, follow the simple, two-step process:
- Visit the Registrar of Voters at 1300 S. Grand Avenue, Bldg. C, Santa Ana, 92705 or visit an early Vote Center to complete a conditional voter registration form in person or visit ocvote.gov/register and complete the voter registration form online.
- After completing the voter registration form at the Registrar of Voters’ office or a Vote Center, you will be issued a provisional ballot. If you completed the voter registration form online, you must go to the Registrar of Voters’ office or a Vote Center to complete the registration process and vote a provisional ballot.
If you are a military voter, overseas voter, or a voter with a disability, please do the following:
