Plan ahead prior to voting and prepare for possible congestion at polling places.

SANTA ANA, CA - It is unknown how many voters will vote at their polling place on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2016. We have mailed a record nearly 1 million vote-by-mail ballots to Orange County voters, so the polling place turnout is likely to be busy but with fewer in-person voters when compared with 2012. Nevertheless, polling place voters should prepare for congestion during peak voting times and plan ahead prior to voting (peak voting times include 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

March 8, 2019 - Pursuant to California Election Code section 15360 (d) this serves as public notice that we will be conducting a random draw of 1% of our precincts in the March 12, 2019 Third Supervisorial District Vacancy Election to be used in a manual tally of votes cast. This manual tally is used to verify the electronic tally of our voting system and the vote-by-mail tally system. The random draw will occur on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The manual tallies will follow the random draw and will take place until complete. Both processes are open to the public.

Many options have been in place for nearly 30 days to allow voters ample time to plan ahead for voting prior to Election Day.

SANTA ANA, CA –October 31, 2020 – The Registrar of Voters is strongly encouraging voters to vote ahead of Election Day (Tuesday, November 3, 2020) if at all possible. Election Day is the end of a 30-day voting period, which has provided voters many options for voting-at-home, or in-person prior to Election Day to avoid congestion.

Test to take place in preparation for Presidential Primary Election

SANTA ANA, CA - Accuracy testing of Orange County's voting system will take place Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for the June 7, 2016 Primary Election.

The Logic and Accuracy test is required by law to be performed prior to each election. Logic and Accuracy tests will include proofing the programming of the ballot, each ballot style and each contest position on the ballot. All previous tests of the voting system have proven it to be 100% accurate.

The process is open to the public.

Test to take place in preparation for 32nd Senate District Special General Election

SANTA ANA, CA - Accuracy testing of Orange County's voting system will take place Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. for the August 7, 2018 32nd Senate District Special General Election.

The Logic and Accuracy test is required by law to be performed prior to each election. Logic and Accuracy tests will include proofing the programming of the ballot, each ballot style and each contest position on the ballot. All previous tests of the voting system have proven it to be 100% accurate.

The process is open to the public.

Suspicious package left outside of a Vote Center operated by the Registrar of Voters is under investigation.

SANTA ANA, CA - On Saturday, October 31, 2020 at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Orange County Registrar of Voters received reports that a suspicious package was left outside of the Westminster Community Services Building in Westminster (the site of a Vote Center). Vote Center staff, voters, and ballots have been evacuated and are safe. An active investigation is taking place and the Westminster Police Department is asking the public to stay away from the vicinity of the area.

Ballot Drop Boxes that were closed due to the Silverado and Blue Ridge Fires also re-opened.

SANTA ANA, CA –October 29, 2020 – Several Vote Center locations were impacted by the recent mandatory evacuations in the Silverado and Blue Ridge Fire zones. Despite the recent impacts, the Registrar of Voters will be opening all locations as previously scheduled tomorrow, October 30, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. and include:

Pop-up voting will provide convenient options to vote in-person, receive a replacement ballot, or ballot drop off to voters who had to quickly evacuate due to the fires.

SANTA ANA, CA –October 29, 2020 – In response to the recent Silverado and Blue Ridge Fires, the Orange County Registrar of Voters is scheduling additional pop-up mobile voting days to support those impacted by evacuation orders and needing voting assistance. Three more sites have now been added for pop-up voting this upcoming weekend, with a total of four sites available across the County.

In addition to our regular schedule the following sites will operate with full voting assistance, in-person voting, ballot drop-off options and more:

 

November 1, 2016 - We believe transparency is important and welcome those who wish to observe on Election Day in polling places. However, it's important for members of the public to understand what is (and what is not) allowed in a polling place as an observer.
