Registration

May 12, 2016 - We posted yesterday the party ballots that No Party Preference voters have requested since January. But what about people who have re-registered and selected a different party?  There has been a lot of activity since January 1st of this year - here is the breakdown:

American Independent - 841

Democratic - 9,374

Green - 44

Libertarian - 289

No Party Preference - 4,745

Peace and Freedom - 60

Republican - 11,431

All of these voters were previously registered with a party or were declared as No Party Preference.

May 2, 2016 - So you received your sample ballot in today's mail - you turn it over and you discover that your party registration is not how you remember registering. It happens periodically and many times we find that voters did in fact register one way, but remember another (we can look up the original digital copy of your voter registration to determine how you marked the form). Nevertheless, it may be that you intended to register with another party - not to worry.

April 15, 2016 - Orange County voters who have not voted or had any registration activity in the last four years - we are looking for you! Alternate Residency Confirmation postcards, green in color, were sent to voters (in the last few days) who have no voting history or registration activity in four years. These voters have been made inactive.

You may now register to vote online. In order to do so, please continue to the online voter registration page, located here. The process will be completed on the California Secretary of State's website, where you will be asked to provide your driver's license number and the last four digits of your social security number. You can also use this service to make any changes to your registration (such as address changes, name changes and/or changes to your party affiliation).

Effective January 1, 2017, Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) is available to eligible voters in California pursuant to Election Codes 2170 through 2173.

Conditional voter registration extends the existing 15-day registration deadline in California to eligible voters, allowing them to register and vote provisionally 14 days prior to an election and on Election Day.

How and Where to Register
Registering to vote is the first step every citizen takes to become an eligible voter. Once registered, you can begin to strengthen our democracy by participating in elections and even working at one of our polling places.

You may register by using our online tool (instructions are included).  You may also use a printed Voter Registration Form that can be found in person at public libraries, city and county offices, California Department of Motor Vehicles offices, and at U.S. Post Offices.  Mailing instructions are located on the form.

If you received an email requesting you to confirm your address and registration, you must confirm your residence address in order to remain on the active voter list. Please take one of the following actions:

I still live in Orange County and my registration information is correct
